When theaters were closed from ’20-’22 I was asked to write something about ‘Hope’ for the internal magazine of Stage Entertainment.
I shot the photographs above without planning them, just with that was there at that moment around me. And I think it’s the same with hope, it is always in some way surrounding you. Hope shouldn’t be considered as something far away, when things are ‘solved’ or something that ‘hopefully’ will happen in the future.
Hope is here, now.
Maybe it’s the surrender to faith in yourself, you are forced to give in to now. Maybe it is the patience you were never willing to practice, but learning right now. Or maybe it is the integrity push of starting to do what you know is right, instead of following opinions or personal gain. Imagine how valuable that is in the long run, being more faithful, having patience, living a life aligned with the best in you.
It’s the hope of what is happening now, which will make you bloom even brighter in every new season.
De kracht van mijn beelden zit niet in een tijdelijk imago, maar in de verbeelding van het tijdloze ‘ zijn.’
